IT’S OFFICIAL! Tyler Herro Just Ended The Trade Rumors With A Shocking “Internal Transformation

Tyler Herro entered the 2025-26 season with one major question hanging over him: does he deserve a long-term, big-money extension from the Miami Heat? After declining an extension before the year, this was effectively his “prove-it” season – a chance to show he’s worth the big dollars.

So far, he’s done the opposite.

Herro has missed 36 of the team’s 47 regular-season games. When healthy and available, the Heat are just 4-7. It’s too far to say the team is better without him, but it’s also hard to argue Herro has been a significant difference-maker this year.

That’s the core problem when considering a massive contract extension.

A new deal – even at a modest raise – would put Herro in the $35–40 million per year range. Given this season’s output, that could be one of those franchise-altering mistakes for Miami.

The Heat are still hunting a superstar (Giannis Antetokounmpo remains the dream target). Handing Herro that kind of money now severely limits cap flexibility and trade assets. There’s little justification to go all-in on him at this moment.

Herro Still Has One Year Left He has one full season remaining on his deal – so technically, he could still redeem himself next year. But this disastrous campaign (driven heavily by injuries) has done him no favors in proving he deserves the big-money extension the Heat would likely demand he accept.

It’s unfortunate – injuries have clearly played a major role. But even beyond health, there’s little evidence the Heat ever felt comfortable committing long-term to Herro at the level he’s seeking.

At this point, unless the front office sees something we don’t, a long-term extension seems highly unlikely. Herro is more likely to be a centerpiece in a blockbuster trade package (e.g., for Giannis) at the deadline or in the offseason. This could truly be the beginning of the end of Tyler Herro in a Heat uniform.
