The Golden State Warriors received concerning injury news ahead of Monday’s rematch against the Minnesota Timberwolves: Stephen Curry (right patellofemoral inflammation) and Draymond Green (left lower back soreness) are listed as questionable on the official NBA injury report.
Less than 24 hours after a dominant 111-85 win over the Timberwolves on Sunday – a game played under a heavy cloud in Minneapolis – the Warriors face major lineup uncertainty in the second half of a rare back-to-back.
Curry Provides Cautious Knee Update After Limited Minutes Curry sounded hopeful but non-committal after Sunday’s victory, where he played only 13 minutes in the second half thanks to the blowout. He finished with 26 points and 7 assists while helping lead a defense that produced a season-high 20 steals.

Curry said:
“If everything goes well with the recovery and all that, the minutes weren’t crazy tonight, so hopefully I respond well.”
The issue flared up during a workout the day before the originally scheduled game. Curry added:
“It kind of flared up when we came over to get a workout in. It was super weird. I’ve had stuff going on — quads and whatnot — but this was something I hadn’t felt before. I definitely took advantage of the day off to get right, and hopefully that continues.”
The unexpected rest day from Saturday’s postponement helped. But the compressed schedule leaves less than a full day to assess his response before Monday’s tip-off.
Draymond Green Battles Back Soreness in Blowout Green played 23 minutes despite back soreness. He struggled offensively (1-of-5 FG for 2 points) but contributed across the board: 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals. His defensive presence and playmaking remain central to Golden State’s identity.
Sunday’s Game Carried Heavy Emotional Weight The matchup was played under a somber atmosphere following two fatal shootings involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Minneapolis earlier in January, sparking large protests.
Steve Kerr reflected:
“The feeling in the stands was very strange; it was one of the strangest and saddest games I have ever experienced, and you could feel it in the atmosphere, completely subdued. You could tell they were dealing with everything that’s happened and what the city has been through. It was a tough night. We won and we’re happy, but the atmosphere was tough.”
Curry spent much of Saturday watching coverage from the team hotel:
“I was glued to the TV when we weren’t playing. Just watching the coverage, understanding what was going on, trying to really get knowledgeable about it. It was like three straight hours in negative 10-degree weather. That was beautiful to see that turnout. That speaks to how important people felt it was to have their voice heard.”
Warriors Need Curry & Green to Build Momentum With Jimmy Butler out for the season (ACL) and Jonathan Kuminga sidelined (bone bruise in left knee – likely out until after Feb. 5 deadline), the Warriors rely heavily on Curry and Green. Their availability Monday will be critical in determining whether Sunday’s dominant win can turn into meaningful momentum.
