MASTERCLASS IN DEAL-MAKING: Chelsea IGNORE January rejection, lock horns in “intensive talks” to secure £44m midfield dominator.

Just months after having a £35m January offer flatly rejected by Trabzonspor, the Blues are now locked in “intensive negotiations” to sign 19-year-old Ivorian sensation Christ Inao Oulai for a staggering £44m this summer.

The Ivory Coast international has been an absolute revelation since arriving in Turkey last summer for under £5m from French second-tier side Bastia. After exploding with six goals in 18 appearances in France, Oulai has continued that meteoric rise in the Süper Lig, directly contributing to six goals in 21 appearances across all competitions and nailing down a starting spot in Trabzonspor’s XI.

His blend of power, technical brilliance, relentless energy and goal threat from midfield has turned heads across Europe. Premier League clubs have been circling, but right now Chelsea are firmly in pole position.

And this time they’re not messing about.

According to AfricaFoot, Chelsea have returned with a dramatically upgraded offer that could reach £44m — the exact figure believed to be enough to prise the teenager away from the Black Sea club, who hold him under contract until 2030.

It’s classic Boehly-era Chelsea: identify a raw, high-upside talent with monster resale potential, get rejected once, then come back stronger and bigger. The desire to sign elite young players who can be developed at Stamford Bridge (or loaned to Strasbourg) remains the cornerstone of their long-term strategy.

They won’t be alone in the race, however. Tottenham, West Ham and Crystal Palace are all known admirers, while Galatasaray are desperate to keep the Ivorian in Turkish football and have already held preliminary talks.

But after being snubbed in January, Chelsea have clearly decided this is one they’re not letting slip through their fingers again.

A summer move now looks very much on the cards — and if it happens, expect Oulai to be immediately loaned out for more minutes before being integrated into the first team the following season.

One thing is crystal clear: Chelsea are playing the long game, and they’re playing it brilliantly. This is deal-making at the highest level.
