THE AGELESS WONDER: How ‘Efficiency Man’ Kevin Durant, 37, Is Still Putting Up 25+ PPG On 50/40/90 Efficiency In Houston

KD Defies Father Time: Kevin Durant’s Historic Efficiency Fuels Rockets’ Surge

At 37 years old, Kevin Durant continues to remind the NBA world why he remains one of the most unstoppable scorers in league history. In the Houston Rockets’ weekend victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, Durant erupted for 30 points on elite efficiency through three quarters, leading Houston to a commanding win. And as head coach Ime Udoka and Rockets fans are quickly learning, this was no fluke.

Since returning from a two-game absence (personal reasons) in late November, Durant has been on an absolute tear. Over his last 13 games, KD is averaging 26.2 points and 5.3 assists while shooting a scorching 55.1% from the field, 52.4% from three, and 92.1% from the free-throw line.

For the full 2025-26 season, Durant is putting up 25.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game on 51.6% field goal shooting and 44.2% from three. His true-shooting percentage (TS%) of 64.3% is higher than either of his previous two full seasons with the Phoenix Suns.

Even more impressive? When filtering out games on the second night of back-to-backs (a scenario that rarely occurs in the playoffs), Durant’s TS% jumps to an astonishing 66.1%. To put that into perspective, reigning NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has posted a 64.7% TS% over the past two seasons.

Durant himself summed it up perfectly after a recent post highlighting his efficiency and shot difficulty against Cleveland: “Efficiency man.”

The Rockets are now 19-10 and sitting at No. 4 in the Western Conference standings. Durant’s resurgence has been a massive factor in Houston’s climb, especially on the offensive end where his scoring gravity and playmaking have elevated teammates like Alperen Şengün and Amen Thompson.

Next up: Houston returns to Toyota Center on Monday night to host the Indiana Pacers (6-26) at 7:00 p.m. Central. The game will be televised regionally on Space City Home Network (SCHN) and available nationally via NBA League Pass.

The Rockets are 9-1 in their last 10 home games at Toyota Center, and with Durant playing at this level, they look like a legitimate threat in the West. At 37, KD isn’t just defying Father Time—he’s rewriting the script on what’s possible for a perimeter-based star in his late career.
